In front of a subway station, I stopped dead in my tracks as I watched an elderly man struggle to walk. The way he gripped his cane with his wrinkled hands reminded me of my parents’ generation.

Dementia. It’s no longer someone else’s story, it’s ours. I looked up the statistics and saw that 1 in 10 people over the age of 65 have dementia – how many family heartaches are behind that number?

It was this concern that inspired me to pursue my insurance license. I wanted to be an advocate for seniors, not just sell them insurance.

Today, I still dream. I want my parents’ generation to have a healthier and happier retirement. Today, I’m taking the first step toward that dream: I’m going to be a strong supporter of the silver generation.
