Treasures in an Old Basket in the Attic

One day, I found an old knitting basket deep in the attic. Inside the dusty basket were colorful yarns and old knitting needles all tangled up. In that moment, memories of teaching my young grandchild how to knit while sitting on my lap came flooding back.

I always wore my old reading glasses and fiddled with the yarn, knitting scarves and socks for my grandchild. The clumsy works were not fancy, but they were made with all my love. I can still picture my grandchild wearing the socks I knitted and running around the yard in winter, playing hide-and-seek in the yarn.

Time is so fleeting. Now my grandchild has grown into a fine young man, but the old knitting basket is still my most precious treasure. Every time I see the yarn and knitting needles in the basket, I can hear that child’s bright laughter.

Perhaps knitting is not just a skill, but a magical act of weaving love and memories. Studies show that knitting can bring peace of mind, relieve stress, and promote positive emotions. Do you also have a warm memory of knitting?
